At the City of Tartu’s appreciation event held on January 28, organisers of international conferences and new Tartu Conference Ambassadors were recognised.
The Estonian University of Life Sciences was among the institutions honoured, as conferences organised under its leadership have brought international researchers and specialists to Tartu and enhanced the city’s visibility as a hub of science and research. Professor Evelin Loit-Harro of the Estonian University of Life Sciences was awarded the title of Tartu Conference Ambassador in recognition of her significant contribution to bringing international scientific events to Tartu.
Among the recognised conferences was the 3rd MOVE Symposium (chief organiser Alireza Fazeli), organised by the Estonian University of Life Sciences. The symposium focused on the role of extracellular vesicles in disease mechanisms and therapy and brought leading researchers in the field from various countries to Tartu.
Special recognition among Tartu’s annual flagship conferences was also given to the International Conference Biosystems Engineering 2025 (chief organiser Timo Kikas), organised by the Estonian University of Life Sciences. This acknowledgement confirms the university’s strong position in the field of bioeconomy technologies and engineering. The award was received by Marek Metslaid, Director of the Institute of Forestry and Engineering.
This year marked the 13th time that the City of Tartu and the Estonian Convention Bureau have recognised organisers of international conferences.
