One of the key focuses of the Erasmus+ program period starting in 2021 is environmental awareness and sustainability. All mobility participants are encouraged to consider their mode of travel and, whenever possible, choose environmentally friendly travel options.
According to the Erasmus+ program guide, the following are considered environmentally friendly modes of transport:

To qualify for a green travel grant, at least half of the journey (both ways) must be completed using an eco-friendly mode of transport. The distance must be calculated using the Erasmus+ distance calculator.

For planning your trip
Traveling further than Latvia or Lithuania from Estonia can be quite challenging when trying to travel green, but we still strongly recommend giving it a try. There are many websites and resources online that provide more information on this. When traveling from Estonia to your destination, it may not be possible to fully follow these guidelines (since Estonia doesn't have, for example, train connections with the rest of Europe), but perhaps you can keep them in mind once you arrive and travel locally. Maybe you'll prefer taking a train or bus ride over flying with low-cost carriers.
