The exhibition presents, for the first time, the complete collection of Olev Soans' pictorial maps of Estonia in a single display. According to the exhibition organisers, alumni Maive and Jüri Rute, these maps were once widely known throughout Estonia, yet the entire series has never before been exhibited together.
To mark the Estonian University of Life Sciences Alumni Reunion, the exhibition at the University's Forest House will also feature several alternative versions of the maps. In total, visitors will have the opportunity to explore 75 works by the renowned graphic artist and professor Olev Soans. The exhibition is titled "Olev Soans: A Pictorial Atlas of Estonia – Land, People and Nature."
Olev Soans' maps bring together science, nature, history and art. The exhibition highlights works depicting Estonia's natural environment, rural life, agriculture, architecture and cultural heritage.
During the curator-led tour, Maive and Jüri Rute will share the stories behind the creation of the works and provide insight into Olev Soans' remarkable contribution to Estonia's cultural history.
Participation is free of charge, and no registration is required.
